A lot of you are asking how I came up with the name of Demar for my Otherworld creation in the Blood of the Gods Trilogy and if it is based on any traditioinal Celtic tale.
First of all, in my trilogy I've mixed up (or mashed up) many of my favourite myths. Yes, it is mainly based on Greek mytholoy, but there are also ideas and myths floating around from Roman, Celtic and Nordic throughout the trilogy.
I've used names for my characters such as Sirona and Rhiannon, based on names from various myths across the world. But the name Demar is my own creation.
At the time I was writing Frozen In Time (Book 1) in 2010 my dad passed away. I was nearing the end of my novel and I still had no name for the Otherworld. I was just going to call it Otherworld. But then someting spoke to me. It told me to take my dad's first two letters of his name and then mine. Well, Dad's name was Demetrakis (though he was always called Jimmy). I took the DE and the MAR from my name, and there you have it - DEMAR.
Thanks for your interest in my books and your emails. I always look forard to hearing from my readers so don't hesitate to CONTACT ME.

Just been reading the lovely reviews for my memoir THE CAT YEARS: HOW MY CAT SOULMATES SAVED ME
It really does make a difference and I'm glad I wrote it now. It's all thanks to my lovely Athena (she's on the cover). I got the idea to write it after she came into my life in July 2011. She rescued me and I rescued her.
And that's how I decided to write a unique memoir which would be about the cats in my life and the deep bond we share and have shared. They really made a difference to my life and helped me grow and evolve both as a human being and spiritually.
As a youngster I always believed animals had souls. Of course they do: just look into their eyes. I see beautiful souls looking back at me. In the case of cats, I see sweet, loving, deep, mystical and wise old souls staring back. I also seem to know what they are thinking.
I love animals. Always have done and always will. The bond between pet and human is so pure. Maybe not everyone understands this. You have to experience it to believe it.

Whilst still grieving after the loss of her father, author Marie Symeou decides to rescue a kitten from an animal shelter. But it turns out that the beautiful kitten actually rescues her. Well, in fact, they rescue each other.
Inspired by her new muse, Marie decides to write an inspirational memoir sharing her memories of her beloved cats both past and present - her soulmates.
At times uplifting, yet often quite sad, this is an honest account of the author’s battle with depression and other inner demons that have tormented her throughout her life, and how she found true self-worth and healing through the unconditional love of her amazing cats.
A must read for anyone who appreciates and acknowledges the incredible bond that exists between pet and human.
